The clinic draws the blood and sends it to a partnered private laboratory (e.g., Viapath, The Doctors Laboratory). Results are typically available within 24-48 hours.

Phase 2: The Treatment Plan – A Multi-Modal Approach

It is critical to be transparent about what the clinic does not handle. This ensures patient safety and clear boundaries.

  • Emergency & Major Trauma: The clinic is not an A&E. Patients with suspected heart attacks, strokes, major fractures, severe bleeding, or acute surgical abdomens should be directed to call 999 or go to A&E.

  • Complex Specialist Procedures: While a GP can do minor surgery, complex procedures (e.g., colonoscopies, complex joint replacements) are for consultants.

  • Inpatient Care:  As Private GPs we do not have admitting rights to hospitals. They work with private hospitals where a consultant would be the responsible clinician.

  • Certain Controlled Drugs: There are strict regulations on prescribing certain controlled drugs privately, which may limit a GP's ability to prescribe them. Please see prescribing principles.

  • Sectioning under the Mental Health Act: This is typically done by NHS-approved mental health professionals.

Fantastic experience with my first video doctor's appointment at Great North Healthcare. So easy to use – no technical headaches. The doctor was lovely, very knowledgeable, and put me completely at ease. Got my prescription sorted without having to take time off work or find parking in Newcastle city centre. Will definitely use this service again!
